Halloween Came Early....Boo!

So...Jessi and I are driving along the highway from Dallas to Nashville, and we come to a stand still. It's been close to 12 hours already, and we're exhausted. Less than 1 hour away from home...irritation set in...our bladders are about to explode...the dogs have gas...yeah...

so...we wind up driving on the shoulder to get off the highway...there is nothing in sight except for a XXX bookstore...but, it's the only lighted area, so we pull in...get the map...and like two lost souls found the road less traveled by with an old fashioned...DUN DUN DUN...ATLAS...the iPhone gps was experiencing technical difficulty, so we were "sol"

So...along the dark, creepy roads we were starting to sike ourselves out....there were lots of twisty, winding roads...trees that looked like humans...houses with smoke coming out of the windows...and the mystery truck behind us was following a little tooooo close for comfort...20 miles out of the way in the middle of NOWHERE, TN!!!!!!

yeah...not exactly the ideal situation for two white chicks from Tennessee to be in at 2:30am...but...we made it home...the dogs both poop, we ate a snack, and put the whole darn thing in our big pocket book of highway life experiences. Trust me...this ain't the last story you'll be reading...

Middle of the night. Locked Out. It's Raining. Barefoot. Working the Corner. Wait, What?

Ok...so...here's a story for the books.

We are in Dallas TX staying at the "princess palace" called 1727. It's 5am, and Gibson is whining to go outside. It's raining. Cold. I'm groggy and irritated that Gibson couldn't wait to pee.

So...we head out the door for a quick potty break and the door slowly closes behind us. "SLAM!" Locked out. Wow. Jessi is yanking on the door saying "Oh, NO! I can't believe this is really happening!" I say nothing. I remain calm (also in disbelief). I should make it clear that we have no cell phones, no keys (obviously), and we are in our pajamas (Jessi is barefoot).

It's 5:30 am, and we realize that we are completely SOL. So...we started walking. In the rain. Barefoot with the dogs. Down the street from the glorious art gallery/music venue, 1727 there is a meat packing plant. We tried to ask a few workers in the parking lot to use their cell phones, but apparently they all thought we were whores. I mean...really? Is it not clear to EVERYONE that 1. Whores don't usually wear pajamas. 2. Whores don't have dogs. 3. Whores aren't barefoot. 4. Whores don't hover on street corners near art galleries and meat plants. Has America really become THAT judgemental? THAT Skeptical? I mean...would you look at MY face and say, "that looks like the face of trouble..." Seriously...

Anyway...

So, I went inside the meat plant to use the phone. I called the police, but kept getting interrupted by the officer on the other end. I could never finish the details of my story before she verbally vomited in the middle of every sentence..."Well, why don't you just knock on the door?" she said. "Well, why don't you just use your cell phone and call them?" Okay...yeah...right, lady...

So...I finally got the number to ADT Security systems. My thought process was this: Call the police. Get the number to ADT Securities. Call ADT. Tell them the address to the venue. Have them contact our friends who own the venue and tell them we are stranded. Get rescued.

Well...indeed we did get rescued, but it wasn't for another hour and twenty minutes. We stood there shivering in front of the meat plant. Barefoot. Cold. Wet. Uncertain. But...at least I'm still alive to tell the story. Stay tuned for more tour stories and crazy gossip....haha

Tour Update From Somewhereville, KY

Well, I'm on the road...at the moment I sit at the Main and Maple cafe in Nicholasville, KY enjoying a tasty greek salad with cucumber dressing. Last night's show at Common Grounds in Lexington was a success! I enjoyed a few days off earlier in the week in my hometown of Atlanta, GA. It was really nice to be with family again just relaxing at the pad. I made a few appearances at some open mics and met some new friends (shout out to my new pal, Keri). I am now a full believer in 6 degrees of separation. In fact, I think it's gotta be less than that most often times.

I'll take you back to the beginning of June when things first started getting pretty hard core on the road. My first adventure was a last minute tour to Wisconsin, believe it or not. I was sitting at the studio in Nashville when I got a text from my friend and fellow musician, Jessi Lynn. Suddenly I was on the phone and emailing like crazy getting a bunch of shows lined up for us to play all over Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana! The whole tour was a blast! The shows turned out to be totally awesome, and lots of CD's were sold! I got to see a lot of things for the first time, and did a lot of things for the first time.

Chicago was an experience. I played a few venues just outside of Chicago and spent a good solid day just walking around downtown in the city. It is definitely windy there. There is TONS of good food in Chicago too, so it was incredibly difficult to choose what to eat. I was pretty happy with a place called Flacos Tacos just south of the Millennium Park.  I have decided that Chicago is one of the most awesome cities except for the traffic...ugh! One night we even stopped at this hole in the wall restaurant that turned out to be so amazing! I wish I could remember the name of it. We met a bunch of drunk Chicago firemen out on the town and enjoyed some gyros with them.

Indianapolis was a trip never to forget. Aside from the awesome show at Beer Sellar, I got my first tattoo. Some of you may read this for the first time and ghasp...that's okay. In your mind I might have been the last person you would have thought to get a tattoo. And I was probably the last person in my own mind that I would have ever thought to get a tattoo. However...I have been going through a very transitional time in life. This is a very symbolic time for my career journey and personal life as well. Are you familiar with the phrase, "All the stars have to line up?" Well...in the music business that's a very common phrase. People use it all the time. In order to "make it" (making it is different to different people) all your "stars" have to line up. I choose to believe that God is in control of the life that seeks His guidance and wisdom. In my opinion it is God that lines up our metaphorical stars. He has given me confirmation day after day that I am exactly where I'm supposed to be. Each star that is lined up is because God is providing and taking care of me. He is "making it" for me. So, I have to give Him all the credit. For me, it is not an astronomical sign or belief in luck. My tattoo is a reminder that God is in control and that if I continue to trust him, all my stars will line up according to what he has planned for me. It's also an encouragement to keep on keeping on. So, if you care to see my tattoo, I have a few pictures posted up in the live tour section.

After the midwest tour, I flew off to New York City for a few shows. I wish I had more time and money to really enjoy the city. I won't say much about this trip here. I learned a lot, and I'm still processing it. I will probably write about it or at least come up with a song or two. I'll keep you posted. I will say that I was pretty proud of myself for getting along in the city by myself for 4 days. Guess I'm a  big girl now, huh?

Since New York I mentioned I had a few days off in Atlanta and that I was now in KY. That brings us up to date I do believe. From Kentucky I will be making my way back up North for the 4th of July. Not sure as of right now whether I will make a stop in Cincinnati and Indy or just go straight to Madison, WI after the show tonight. Since playing in Madison quite a bit several weeks ago, I was asked to come back and do a big 4th of July party on Castle Rock Lake at this bar called South Shore. It's apparently going to be a really good time, and I'm looking forward to it. I am also very excited to be going on the Sirens 'N Boots tour of Texas in just a week or so. We have generated some very good publicity out there and can't wait to kick off our tour at Antone's in Austin. You might want to check out Alyse Black (www.alyseblack.com) and Aly Tadros (www.alytadros.com). These chicks are AWESOME, and I am SO excited to be associated with them!

The tour schedule is definitely beefing up for sure. I just posted my Atlanta CD Release party at Eddie's Attic on August 7th. Be sure to mark your calendars for that! It's going to be a full band show you won't wanna miss. The first time I've played with  my full band in Atlanta...I think EVER...Yeah...so come out, and plan on being there!

That's it for now...more later! hope you enjoyed reading updates from The Peacock on the road. Mmmm, what a tasty greek salad!

April Fools Joke

Wow...what a crazy week it's been. One thing after the next with no time in between. I WAS going to blog about my April fools joke on the 1st, but I guess it's better late than never. Here goes:

On April 1st during my sophomore year of high school, I played the worst practical joke that backfired. I planned the scheme with one of my friends from chorus class. We decided that it would be funny to put peanut butter all over the toilet seats and write with our fingers on the bathroom stalls. So...i brought the peanut butter, and during chorus class we both snuck out of class to the bathroom. Giggling away in the stalls we dumped clumps of peanut butter all over the place! We were laughing SO hard the whole time thinking about how brilliant we were and how awesome it was going to be to get away with such a lovely prank. However...I am about to bring new meaning to the phrase, "caught red handed." When we finished decorating our last bathroom stall, I opened the door, hands caked with peanut butter...with no greater horror than to find our short little scary chorus teacher standing there quietly glaring at us tapping her foot in anger. The giggling immediately ceased and was replaced with a pounding chest and a crazy fear. We were both paralyzed.

Our teacher called the janitor to bring supplies for us to clean up the mess. I can't believe we didn't get into bigger trouble than we did. To this day I can't figure out why I didn't get expelled. We got written up, but since we were both "in" with the assistant principle (since we were good friends with her son I think), she didn't do anything. To be honest, I think it took everything out of her to keep from laughing at our joke. I think the same thing about the chorus teacher. Later on I think I heard that she really did think it was hillarious....although she did have to "punish us," i think probably what she really wanted to do was laugh.

So...anyways...that's my practical joke story. And I've NEVER played a prank since. So kids...if you're reading this, go ahead and laugh...but I BETTER not discover that you decided to try this at your school, or I will be VERY VERY VERY disappointed in you.

Celebration Mode/CD Release Update

Well...after 4 years of conceiving this "baby" called MY RECORD, we have finally made it out of the hospital! It's time to take the newborn home and let the young sapling reach maturation. After all, it's had a very nurturing mother, and I think it's time for me to stand back and watch it grow. I've been in full blown celebration mode for the last 3 days straight. My computer has been off for 72 hours! I have made no business calls and only updated facebook and myspace from my iPhone. Man, it feels good! I have taken some time to unplug and enjoy myself (well deserved I should say). Last week I worked my butt off trying to book shows and get a decent schedule going for when I pack my suitcase fulla songs and head to Nashville in May. I hardly slept at all. I barely showered in time enough to get out the door every day, consistently wearing hats and the same pair of jeans every day. I drank lots of smoothies cause I was on the go. That's the only benefit of being slammed. I always treat myself to a smoothie! MMMM!!! One of my students said to me today, "Miss Sarah, you must LOVE that shirt! I have seen it on you three weeks in a row now!" I made a mental note to NEVER wear this shirt to her lesson again. LOL! Man! I'm tellin' ya! It's hard work!!

I've got lots of irons in the fire right now. It looks like the calendar is gonna fill up quite nicely! Tomorrow it's back to work!!! I will be up early with my running shoes on, and then it's off to livin' the dream (which isn't so glamourous until you're on stage pouring your heart out into a mic while wearing your sunglasses inside).

Just a little update for the pre-order folks (and everyone else for that matter)...We will be officially releasing the record on April 21, which is a Tuesday. I didn't know this until my label and management informed me, but albums always release on a Tuesday. Something having to do with Billboard and Soundscan or something? anyways...I'm gonna keep my release date on the website as April 18 because I will definitely have the product in my hands way before then....In plenty of time to ship out the pre-orders autographed and everything before the release date as promised.

We are still trying to work out all the details regarding my CD Release party in Atlanta. Don't worry...you haven't missed anything. We have been silent for a reason. I'll be sure to keep everyone well informed as soon as we get the party planned and all the details worked out. It probably will not be on April 18, but it will be shortly thereafter. You will all be made aware as updates are made. We are gearing up to do several promotional events surrounding the announcement and actual party, so get ready!

Alright now...I guess that's all for now! Go ahead and pre-order your copy of the record! That would be awesome! It comes with some free stuff, so why wouldn't you!? Hope you are all doing well! Thanks for reading! More soon! Muah!
Love,
Sarah

What's New In My World

So...there's a lot of new things happening in the life of Sarah Peacock lately. I'm gonna take a moment to fill you in. As we get closer to May 15 (which is the day I move back to Nashville), you will start to see new dates on the calendar. As I have mentioned before, I'm going to be doing the "artist thing" full time. I've been working very hard day and night to make sure I am ready for the journey. We have been booking like crazy, and I've also been collaborating with several other artists with some crazy awesome tour ideas. I have teamed up with another comrade from Austin, TX, Alyse Black to start an all chicks organization called Sirens N' Boots. This is essentially a select group of female artists all in a van together with a trailer doing shows at which we back each other up with harmonies and other instruments. Sirens 'N Boots will embark on it's first tour this July 9-21. There is a lot of prep work involved with this kind of tour planning. Promotion is gonna be crazy. You are going to start seeing more Sirens stuff up on the website as we try to spread the word. This season's Sirens N Boots team is Alyse Black, Erin Ivey, Aly Tadros, and Sarah Peacock. We will be touring the entire state of Texas (which is HUGE). Be checking back for updates on Sirens 'N Boots. We are also on Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook. I will provide those links very soon.

So...July is basically full for me since I have Sirens and then a trip to Ohio for the Oxford film festival. There will be several stops on the way to Ohio, so right now I am working really hard to finalize all of it. September is basically full as well since I will be doing a tour in Europe to Scotland, Ireland, and England. Still cooking with June and August, but a few things are in the works.

Thanks for all the love on the new website. You guys are awesome! Be sure to stop by the store section of the site and pre-order the album. I'm super excited for all of you to hear and share with your friends! That's all for now.

Much Love!
Sarah

WE DID IT!!!!

Wow...so I just finished listening to the mastered copy of my album for the first time, and I feel like giving everyone in the world a puppy...hahaha! I just can't believe we did it! I am super excited! I will be posting up the mastered tracks on my website shortly so that we can all share in the joy.

We are on our way to duplication very soon, so I'll keep all you pre-ordered folks posted. I guess that's all for now. I just got overstimulated for a few minutes and wanted to post something, by golly! Have a great weekend!

Eddie's Attic BMI Showcase/Tour Plans

I'd like to thank everyone who came to the BMI showcase at Eddie's Attic on Wednesday night. a HUGE thanks to Glen Pridgen for heading up the event and for making it such a memorable night! It was such an honor (as always) to play Eddie's as well, so a kiss and a hug to Eddie himself for hosting the event! I really enjoyed hearing everyone perform. All of the artists were so outstanding and talented! It was a pleasure sharing the stage with you!

We recorded my set, so we might be posting up a song or two for you to listen to on the media player. Tons of photos were taken, so be sure to keep checking back for all those too. I am so excited about some of the things that are coming up! We will be announcing the location of the CD release party very shortly, which will be VERY exciting!

I have already started working on an European tour to Scotland, Ireland, and England for September! I am totally stoked about this (for obvious reasons)...I have never been overseas before so this is going to be SOOOO much fun! Between the months of May and July you will start to see the tour schedule fill up. I'll be doing a summer tour promoting my album, "Straight For Your Heart" which is coming on April 18. After the summer tour and the trip to Europe, it'll be NACA season again through October! Better make sure my seatbelt is on tight! Here we go!

I'll keep you posted as things happen! By the way...you should all check out the band, Blackberry Smoke. They are a phenomenal country band that played here in Atlanta last night at Star Bar. Holy Cow! These guys are the real deal! They were AWESOME!!!

Beta Tupperware Test

We are in the process of getting this website up and running the way we like...it's going to take some time for developing it.

We all use myspace, facebook, blogspot and all the other cutsie places to blog, but posting and re-posting on all those different sites is time consuming. I'm going to try to contain my blog to www.sarahpeacockmusic.com. If you care what I have to say, keep checking back on this here website for my latest ramblings, innermost thoughts and feelings, opinions, and jokes. I'll be keeping an eye on traffic to see how this beta tupperware testing goes. It's just easier to keep my blog in one "container." Let me know what you think and if you find it convenient to stay connected. Please leave comments and feedback. Your suggestions are welcome.

or you can email me at sarah@sarahpeacockmusic.com

Another reason I'm doing this is because it's easier to follow my Twitter, use Demand It and Shout Box, check my tour schedule, and listen to more tracks right here at home. Again...everything is in one "tupperware container." We're trying to make the website fun and interactive. This is all about creating more ways to stay connected to you that will enhance overall awesome-ness!

I look forward to your comments!
Love,
Sarah
